The Florida Keys Council of the Arts is
pleased to present New Orleans jewelry artist Thomas Mann in a
special full-day Design for Survival workshop Saturday, April 6, 9 a.m. to
5 p.m., at the Key West Art Center, 301 Front St.
Design for Survival
is about marketing art and craft to a national audience. This unique
workshop will help artists integrate their technical and design skills
with professional business practices, translating inspiration into steady
repeat sales. Many former DfS students have gone on to highly successful
careers.
The cost of the workshop is $35 for
arts council members registering before March 15, $50 for nonmembers.
Class size is restricted to twenty-five participants, and advance
registration is required.
Born in 1947 in Allentown,
Pennsylvania, Tom Mann has more than thirty years’ experience as a
professional designer, jeweler, and sculptor. He is best known for his
Techno-Romantic line of wearable art. He has given solo exhibitions
worldwide and has won numerous awards, commissions, and grants. His works
adorn museums and private collections from the Smithsonian Institution in
Washington to AT&T corporate headquarters in Dallas. He has lectured and
published internationally. Tom’s famous Design for Survival workshops
have highlighted the arts seasons of more than two dozen cities from
Boston to Sydney.
Tom’s April 6 workshop is in
conjunction with his sculpture exhibit at the Lucky Street Gallery.
