The Monroe Council of the Arts will sponsor Intellectual Property Rights for Writers, a workshop by Susan Chaires, Saturday, February 24, 10 a.m. to noon, at the Monroe County Public Library, 700 Fleming St., Key West. The event is free.
Susan Chaires, who gave a highly informative workshop for visual artists here in 1998, is an intellectual property lawyer in Washington, D.C. She has worked extensively with creative clients both in the United States and internationally, including visual artists, writers, and film and video producers. She represented sculptor Frederick Hart in the nationally publicized legal action against Warner Bros. that claimed unauthorized use of a sculpture in the movie Devil's Advocate.
