Non-matching
fellowships are available to South Florida artists through the South
Florida Cultural Consortium for the eighteenth annual South Florida
Cultural Consortium Fellowships for Visual and Media Artists.
Applications are available through the Miami-Dade County
Department of Cultural Affairs (305-375-4634).
Deadline is October 1, 2003.
To
be eligible, professional artists must be over 18 years of age and
have been residents of Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Monroe or
Martin Counties for one year at the time of application.
Students and non-professionals who engage in artwork as a hobby
are not eligible. Professional
artists returning to school in pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate
degree may apply.
This
yearç—´ national panel of judges includes: James Elaine, UCLA Hammer
Museum, Los Angeles; Afua Kafi-Akua, Third World Newsreel, New York
City; Tumelo Mosaka, Brooklyn Museum of Art, New York City; James
Rondeau, Art Institute of Chicago; and Gilbert Vicario, Institute of
Contemporary Art, Boston.
Free workshops will
be presented in four South Florida counties during the month of
August:
PALM
BEACH and MARTIN: Boca Raton Museum of Art, Mizner Park, 501 Plaza
Real, Boca Raton at 6 PM on August 13.

The
works of the recipients of the 2004 fellowships will be exhibited at
the Miami Art Museum in 2004. The
South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellowships for Visual and Media
Artists is a cooperative project funded by the Miami-Dade County
Department of Cultural Affairs Council, the Broward Cultural Affairs
Council and the Palm Beach Cultural Council through the South Florida
Cultural Consortium.
