The Florida Keys Council of the Arts announces the
availability of small emergency grants to
individual visual, literary and performing artists in Monroe
County for the purchase of supplies or equipment
                      damaged or destroyed in Hurricane
                      Wilma.

Requests may be made for replacing items valued
between $100 and $500. "We want to be straightforward
from the start. We don't want to raise unreasonable
expectations for funding, but we can help replace paints,
scripts, music, costumes, and other tools of the artist's
trade," said Executive Director Monica Haskell.
Emergency grant instructions are online, or simply write a
letter explaining your need, how you will use the funds, and
your other forms of support. Request a specific amount, and
include your name, address, proof of residency, phone, e-mail
                      or other contact information.

Send your application to the Florida Keys Council of
the Arts, 1100 Simonton Street, Key West, Florida 33040. There
is no specific deadline, but requests will be reviewed until
                      the funds run out.
Those who were fortunately not harmed by the storm,
and who would like to help their fellow artists who found
themselves in less fortunate circumstances, may send donations
to this fund to the same address. All donations are
                      tax-deductible.
