Writer
D. Cricket Desmarais has been selected as the $2,000 winner of the 2005
Key West Writers Guild award administered by Florida Keys Council of
the Arts.
Her
manuscript in progress, titled One Hundred Fires, was
reviewed by an independent panel and judged the best in the field of
submissions. The Key West Writers Guild award is an annual award supported
by private donations to the Florida Keys Council of the Arts..
Desmarais,
thirty-four, is a writer, dancer, waitress and a charter boat captain.
One Hundred Fires takes place primarily in Key West during
the Depression and the years that follow.
