$15,000 FELLOWSHIP AWARD AVAILABLE
The Florida Keys Council of the Arts will host a workshop on Wednesday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m. for visual and media artists who wish to apply for the 2011 South Florida Cultural Consortium fellowship program, offering awards of $7,500 or $15,000 to emerging artists. It will be held at the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center, 35 East Quay Road, Truman Waterfront, Key West. Presented by Brandi Reddick of the Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs, the workshop will cover a range of topics, including the application process and the preparation of digital images for online submission.
To be eligible, professional artists must be over 18 years of age and have been residents of Monroe County for one year at the time of application. Students and non-professionals who engage in artwork as a hobby are not eligible. Professional artists returning to school in pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree may apply. Past winners include Leo Gullick, Richard Hayden, Rock Solomon, Michel Delgado, Shari Schemmel, Kimberly Narenkivicius, Jenny Zeller, Debra Yates and Karley Klopfenstein.
Participants are invited to stay for light refreshments following this workshop.
