About the Fellowship Program

The South Florida Cultural Consortium (SFCC) is a regional partnership of county cultural agencies in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, and Monroe counties. Each year, the Consortium awards fellowships to outstanding visual and media artists living and working in the region. The program is one of the most prestigious artist fellowship programs in the southeastern United States.

Fellowship awards range from $15,000 to $35,000 and are unrestricted, allowing artists to use the funds for any purpose that supports their artistic practice, whether for materials, studio space, travel, or living expenses. The Florida Keys Council of the Arts nominates Monroe County artists for consideration by the regional panel of jurors.

How to Apply

Monroe County visual and media artists interested in being considered for the SFCC fellowship must first apply through the Florida Keys Council of the Arts. the Arts Council reviews local applications and nominates eligible artists to the regional panel.

Application Requirements

Must be a visual or media artist residing in Monroe County for at least one year
Must be 18 years or older and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
Submit 10 digital images or up to 10 minutes of time-based media
Provide an artist statement (500 words maximum) and current resume/CV
Previous SFCC fellows must wait three years before reapplying

Application deadline: Typically October of each year. Check back for the 2026-2027 cycle announcement.
