About the Fellowship Program
The South Florida Cultural Consortium (SFCC) is a regional partnership of county cultural agencies in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, and Monroe counties. Each year, the Consortium awards fellowships to outstanding visual and media artists living and working in the region. The program is one of the most prestigious artist fellowship programs in the southeastern United States.
Awards of $15,000 and $7,500 are unrestricted, allowing artists to use the funds for any purpose that supports their artistic practice, whether for materials, studio space, travel, or living expenses. Since 1988 the Consortium has awarded over $4 million to more than 300 artists. Monroe County artists apply directly to the Consortium and are judged alongside the other four counties by a regional panel and then a national panel.

How to Apply
Monroe County visual and media artists apply directly to the South Florida Cultural Consortium through its online application system. There is no application fee, and no separate application to the Florida Keys Council of the Arts is needed. Applications are grouped by county, reviewed by a regional panel, and the final recipients are recommended by a national panel.
Application Requirements
- Must be a visual or media artist who has lived and worked in Monroe County for a full year before applying, and must apply from the county of residence
- Open to emerging, mid-career and established professional artists. Students pursuing a degree are not eligible
- Work samples must be from the last three years. Image, time-based media and audio are all accepted
- Artist statement, resume and proof of residency (such as a lease, property tax record, voter registration or tax return)
- Attendance at one Consortium workshop is required in order to apply

Attendance at a Consortium workshop is a condition of applying. Of the three held for this cycle, the last one is Saturday, August 22, 2026, 12:00 to 1:00 pm. Registration is on the Consortium's guidelines page, linked below.
FY 2026-2027 deadline: Monday, September 14, 2026 at 11:59 pm. There is no application fee.
