Art Collecting Workshop at San Carlos Institute

The Council announced a free members workshop on buying and collecting art by ARTnews publisher Milton Esterow at the San Carlos Institute on January 25.

The Monroe Council of the Arts will sponsor Buying and Collecting Art, a workshop given by Milton Esterow, Thursday, January 25, 7 p.m., at the San Carlos Institute, 516 Duval St., Key West. The event is free to members of the Monroe Council of the Arts. Nonmembers may join in advance or at the door on January 25. Refreshments will be provided.

Milton Esterow is the editor and publisher of ARTnews magazine, founded in 1902. Since buying ARTnews from Newsweek in 1972, Esterow has guided its growth into the world?s most widely circulated art magazine. Under Esterow?s direction, ARTnews has been honored twenty-four times for excellence in reporting, criticism, and design; has been cited six times by the Society of the Silurians for distinguished investigative reporting; was the first magazine to receive a George Polk Award for cultural reporting and the first fine-arts magazine to win a National Magazine Award for general excellence; and has won awards from the Association of Women in Communications, Investigative Reporters and Editors, Newspaper Guild of New York, and the Press Club of Atlantic City.
