ARTS and BUSINESS LEADERS MEET & GREET

Council staff attended the Americans for the Arts annual convention in Austin, where 800 arts leaders met and Malcolm Gladwell gave the keynote.

Americans for the Arts, the nation’s leading organization for advancing the arts, hosted 800 arts leaders in Austin, Texas, from June 11-13.

FKCA President and Executive Director Monica Haskell attended the conference with Ms. Comstock and said, “We returned with great new resources for using the arts to build creativity and community in the Keys. The national arts action agenda aligns with our own. Plus had a great time experiencing the creative culture of Austin. Texas two-step, anyone? ”

Gladwell’s New York Times #1 best seller, Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking, analyzes how we can improve our instincts for good decision-making. His first best selling book, The Tipping Point , analyzes the development of trends.

Other conference presenters included Peggy Conlon, President and CEO of The Advertising Council, and Edward L. Bailey, vice-president of brand development for Austin City Limits.
