Arts Council Announces New Staff Members

The Council named Elizabeth Young interim executive director and hired Michael McCabe as information services and community development coordinator.

The Florida Keys Council of the Arts is pleased to announce that Elizabeth Young has been named Interim Executive Director. A twenty-year resident of Key West, Liz has been very active in the arts, schools and community fundraising. She currently serves on the Montessori Elementary Charter School Board of Directors as President, as well as on the Board of the Congregation B’nai Zion. She has a B.A. in Art History and Theater from Wheaton College in Massachusetts. Liz will begin her duties as Interim Executive Director starting in March. Michael McCabe has joined the staff as Information Services & Community Development Coordinator. Mike has lived in Key West for five years. He previously worked with the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory, and for the past three years with Monroe County as a Code Enforcement Inspector. Before moving to Key West, Mike served as Young Artists Program Manager with the Seattle Opera. He is an accomplished actor himself, currently appearing in “Tuesdays With Morrie” at the Waterfront Playhouse. “We are very happy to have Liz and Mike joining our staff. Their enthusiasm combined with their excellent skills will enable the Arts Council to grow and expand its services to the arts community,” said Andrea Comstock, who will continue with the Arts Council as Business Manager. The Florida Keys Council of the Arts connects those who create the arts with those who support the arts. The Arts Council makes grants, fosters the arts in public places, and publishes a Gallery Guide and Cultural Calendars.
