Cultural umbrella application available; workshops coming up
The Council announced the March 24 release of the Tourist Development Council Cultural Umbrella funding application, with three April workshops and a May 19 deadline.

The Florida Keys Council of the Arts is pleased to announce that the application for Tourist Development Council Cultural Umbrella funding will be released March 24, 2008. The application will be available by e-mail. Requests for an application package may be sent now to [email removed] and will be filled on March 24. An applicant may also download the application from www.keysarts.com or pick up a copy of the application at the arts council office, 1100 Simonton St., Key West after the release date. Cultural Umbrella funding is to be used for the advertising and promotion of cultural events taking place between October 1, 2008 and September 30, 2009. Past recipients of Cultural Umbrella funding include Key West Symphony Orchestra, Sculpture Key West, Waterfront Playhouse, South Florida Center for the Arts, Marathon Community Theater, and the Florida Keys Art Guild. Three workshops on how to apply for Cultural Umbrella funding will be held the first week of April. The workshop schedule is as follows: Wednesday, April 2, 10:00 a.m., Marathon Community Theatre, 5101 Overseas Hwy. Wednesday, April 2, 2:00 p.m., Islamorada Library, MM 81.5 Bayside Thursday April 3, 2:00 p.m. Gato building, 1st floor conference room, 1100 Simonton St., Key West The deadline for submitting the application is Monday, May 19. The application must arrive at the arts council office by 5 p.m. that day. Applications will be reviewed by the Cultural Umbrella committee on June 13, and their recommendations for funding will be forwarded to the TDC and BOCC for final approval.
