$15,000 FELLOWSHIP AWARD AVAILABLE – DEADLINE JANUARY 29, 2010 FREE WORKSHOP FOR VISUAL ARTISTS

The Florida Keys Council of the Arts will host a free workshop for visual artists on Thursday, January 7 at 2:00pm to provide information on how to apply online for the 2010 South Florida Cultural Consortium fellowship program. Awards are either two awards of $7,500 or one $15,000 award for Keys’ visual and media artists. The workshop will be held at the Florida Keys Eco-Discovery Center, 35 East Quay Road, Truman Waterfront, Key West. Presented by Brandi Reddick of the Miami-Dade Department of Cultural Affairs, the workshop will cover a range of topics, including the application process and the preparation of digital images for online submission at www.callforentry.org. To be eligible, professional artists must be over 18 years of age and have been residents of Monroe County for one year at the time of application. Students and non-professionals who engage in artwork as a hobby are not eligible. Professional artists returning to school in pursuit of an undergraduate or graduate degree may apply. Past winners include Leo Gullick, Richard Hayden, Rock Solomon, Michel Delgado, Shari Schemmel, Kimberly Narenkivicius, Jenny Zeller, Debra Yates and Karley Klopfenstein.
