“Bits and Pieces” A new collage art exhibit at the Historic Gato Building

Join the artists and the Florida Keys Council of the Arts for an opening reception for “Bits and Pieces” a group art project by the artists of Artists in Paradise Gallery on Big Pine Key. The show and reception will be held Friday January 14 from 5 to 7pm. shown above “Vicky’s Orchid Garden” a collage by VeEtta Baldwin Artists in Paradise Gallery is a co-op gallery of artists who live between Marathon and Key West and is located in the Winn Dixie Shopping Center on beautiful Big Pine Key. The artwork in the gallery is a diverse mixture of sculpture, watercolor, mixed media, acrylics & oils inspired by the beauty, nature and history of the Fabulous Florida Keys. This show is a collaboration by 25 members of the gallery who have produced some unique and creative mixed media collages. shown above “Great Blue”, a rain barrel by Gale Upmal Also on display are 10 artistically decorated rain barrels. Rain Barrels were donated by GLEE to the artists who have painted and decorated them to add style and practicality to your garden. Collecting rainwater has been a practice

in many cultures for centuries. With drought restrictions in many areas, rain barrels are a practical, economic way to protect our enviornment while keeping your garden green. These rain barrels add an extra burst of color to your yard. The show is part of the Arts Council’s Art in Public Building program, designed to offer an opportunity for local artists to exhibit their work beyond a traditional gallery setting.
