The Community Foundation announced a nonprofit workshop series for 2003-2004 on board operations, building a website and making corporate presentations.
Toolkit for Board Operations
Presented By: Debbie Mason, Strategists, Inc.
Time & Dates: Friday, February 27, 2004, 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for ALL Board members
Saturday, February, 28, 2004, 9:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for Presidents and Executive Directors Only
Location: Tennessee Williams Theatre
Enrollment : Full Boards are encouraged to attend
Fees: $50.00 per Board
Participants will learn: Board roles and responsibilities; legal issues, duty of care & duty of loyalty; ensuring and understanding fiduciary responsibility; cultivation and recruitment of board members: including orientation and training, evaluation and moving people off; advocacy and learning to tell your story; understanding the need for board policy and strategic plan and the board members role in each; role of board chair, executive director and board members.
Building a Non-Profit Website

Location: Florida Keys Community College Computer Lab
Enrollment: Staff and Board Members responsible for Marketing - Limited to 30 Participants
Fees: $30.00 per Board
Participants will learn: What makes a website load quickly; how to define easy page navigation; why titles and descriptions are important; tips on marketing your site; tips on conducting an email campaign.
Talking Suits - How to Make A Corporate Presentation:

Time & Dates: Friday, April 23, 2004, 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for ALL Board members
Location: Tennessee Williams Theatre
Enrollment : Full Boards are encouraged to attend - Limited to 50 Participants
Fees: $40.00 per Board
Participants will learn: How and when to communicate to corporations; how to tie events to organizations and develop good sponsors; how to learn what you can ask for; what to do after they say "yes"; what to do if they say "no".
