Cultural Umbrella Application available; free workshops

The Council announced that Tourist Development Council Cultural Umbrella funding applications would be released March 11, 2009, and offered three free workshops on applying.

The Florida Keys Council of the Arts is pleased to announce the application for Tourist Development Council Cultural Umbrella funding will be released March 11, 2009. The application is available on-line at www.keysarts.com or a copy may be picked up at the arts council office, 1100 Simonton Street, #2-263, Key West. Requests for an application package may also be e-mailed to [email removed]. An applicant may also download the application from www.keysarts.com or pick up a copy of the application at the Arts Council office, 1100 Simonton St., suite 2-263 in Key West. Cultural Umbrella funding is used for the advertising and promotion of cultural events taking place between October 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010. Past recipients of Cultural Umbrella funding include Key West Symphony Orchestra, Sculpture Key West, Waterfront Playhouse, Red Barn Theatre, Marathon Community Theater, the Florida Keys Art Guild, Florida Keys Birding & Wildlife Festival and the FKCC Keys Chorale. Three free workshops on how to complete the application for Cultural Umbrella funding are offered by the Florida Keys Council of the Arts and are scheduled in three convenient locations as follows: Monday, March 23, 10:00 a.m., Marathon Community Theatre, 5101 Overseas Hwy., Monday, March 23, 2:00 p.m., History of Diving Museum, MM 82 bayside, Islamorada Tuesday, March 24, 2:00 p.m., Gato building, 1st floor conference room, 1100 Simonton St., Key West The deadline for submitting the application is Monday, May 4th at 5 p.m. Applications will be reviewed by the Cultural Umbrella committee on May 26, and their recommendations for funding will be forwarded to the TDC and BOCC for final approval.
